Digital Assets

Digital assets now form a significant and often overlooked component of modern estates, raising complex legal issues at the intersection of estates law, privacy, contract, and technology. This session explores what constitutes a digital asset, common access and administration challenges, relevant Canadian and international case law, and practical planning considerations for both lifetime planning and post-death administration.

The session will be led by Demetre Vasilakis, a lawyer in the Tax and Estates & Trusts Groups at Aird & Berlis. Demetre advises individuals, families, and fiduciaries on sophisticated estate, trust, and digital asset planning matters, and is recognized as a thought leader in digital asset succession planning. He is a Trust and Estate Practitioner (TEP) and a member of the STEP Digital Assets Global Special Interest Group.

Cash Bar reception begins at 5:00pm

Please arrive early so that you don't miss out on networking opportunities.

We look forward to seeing you all very soon.
